WHAT WILL CHANGE?
At 00:00h on July 31, 2012, the National Numbering Plan (NNP)
of East Timor will be changed:
- All existing TT mobile phone numbers will begin with the
numbers 77, for example:
- This change will be applied to all voice and data SIM card numbers,
more precisely:
- Pre and Post Paid voice SIM Cards
- Pre and Post Paid Data SIM cards
- SMS centre number of all SIM cards
- All Timor Telecom SIM cards corresponding to new aquisitions will
have eight digits and will begin with the numbers 77 or 78.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?
- To make calls to TT mobile phone numbers, from the 31st of
July onwards:
- You should add a number 7, to the beginning of all your TT mobile
phone contacts.
- All TT shops and NNP help stands will be equipped to aid you
in the process of updating the contact numbers registered in
your SIM card. Please note that in order to do so, your PIN code
will be required.
- These devices will only be able to change the numbers that are
stored in the memory of your SIM card.
- To send SMS´s to TT mobile phone numbers from the 31st of
July onwards:
- TT recommends that you have your mobile phone switched on
from midnight on the 30th of July onwards, so that the SMS
centre number registered in your SIM card may be automatically
updated.
- Alternatively, you may update your SMS centre number manually
through the SMS definitions available on your mobile phone by
adding an extra 7 to the current number.
- TT shops and NNP help stands will also be available to help you
in this process. Please note that in order to do so, your PIN code
will be required.
- Once your SMS centre has been updated, you will be able to send
SMS´s trouble free, as long as you have added the extra 7 in the beginning of your Timor Telecom mobile contatcs.
- To receive calls from abroad:
- You should inform all your foreign contacts that a 7 will be added
to the beginning of your TT mobile phone number.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
- What should I do if I am unable to call a TT mobile phone number
from the 31st of July onwards?
- Please verify that the number you dialed has 8 digits and that
you have added an extra 7 to its beginning.
- What should I do if I am unable to send SMS´s from the 31st of July
onwards?
- Should this situation arise, your SMS centre number may not
have been updated automatically. Please try to update it
manually through the SMS definitions on your mobile phone by
adding an extra 7 to the current SMS centre number. You may
also request help from TT shops and NNP help stands or dial 177
so that we may provide assistance to you in this process.
- What will happen when someone tries to contact me from
abroad?
- Should anyone try to contact you from abroad without adding the
necessary extra digit 7, a recording will be heard instructing the
caller to do so in order to successfully get in touch with you.
- Will my data SIM card number also be altered?
- Yes, the number of your Data SIM card will also have an extra 7 in its beginning and so will its SMS centre number. Should you
verify that the SMS centre has not been automatically updated
you may:
- Configure the SMS centre manually.
- Request help from TT shops or NNP help stand so that we may
provide assistance to you in this process. Be reminded that in
order to do so, your PIN code will be required.
- Are Timor Telecom´s fixed line numbers changing as well?
- No, all fixed line numbers will remain as they are, with 7 digits
only.
- From the 31st of July onwards, what will happen if I do not add
an extra number 7 to the beginning of the TT mobile numbers I
make calls to?
- You will hear a recording reminding you that all TT mobile
numbers have changed and asking you to add the extra 7 digit.
- How may I further clarify my doubts regarding the NNP?
- You will be able to find further assistance regarding the NNP at
any TT shop or in the NNP help stands that will be made available
in Díli.
