Timor Telecom announced yesterday, the 22nd, its new image: a modern brand, which symbolizes a new era of a national telecommunications company.

"It is a shift towards closer to Timor Telecom of its customers," said Manuel Amaro, CEO of TT. "The new brand reflects the commitment, innovation and effort in Timor Telecom's strategy of quality, growth and development of communications services in our country for the benefit of the Timorese population."

According to the company the new image of TT is much closer to the people, culture and country, asserting itself as a young, modern and innovative Timorese company. The blue is chosen as "a cheerful and bright colour, symbolizing the bright future of the company and its customers."

The new brand was officially launched at a dinner presentation in Dili, with the presence of various figures of the state, society and the diplomatic corps in East Timor.

The President of East Timor, José Ramos-Horta, attended the ceremony and accentuates the bet that TT did in East Timor, when he went for an international tender launched by the East Timorese government and the effort that the company has done to develop the telecommunications in East Timor.

With the new image, was also launched the new website of Timor Telecom. At a time when the TT is betting a lot in the Internet services, this is a modern and functional website, to better serve and inform its customers and those who, anywhere in the world, want to know TT.

Another great moment of this new phase of TT will be the launch of third generation services in East Timor, already in late March. It will be possible to exchange pictures and videos between phone and access the mobile Internet through a computer or mobile phone in any place where there is 3G coverage.

In this new phase of the company, the year 2010 is marked by massive investment in telecommunications in the country: 82.3% population will be cover by 2G and 44.7% will be cover by 3G by the end of the year. Only investment in the network, between 2009 and 2011, will be approximately 35 million dollars.

Next Saturday, the 27th, TT also organizes a big concert for the population, with bands such as 5 do Oriente, Rock Alegre, Dejukdil / Diocese Band and Gembel. The gig has free admission has free admission and will take place from 16h in the field of Democracy in Dili, in order to celebrate the launch of the new brand.

Dinner Presentation TT´s new brand
 

Timor Telecom and President of East Timor signed last January, cooperation protocol to storage the new presidential website, on the server of universal´s service utility in East Timor.

Without any time limit in terms of cooperation, the document was signed by the President of East Timor Chief Staff, Dr. Gregório de Sousa, together with Dr. Isabel Nolasco Timor Telecom. The counterpart to the utility of universal service in East Timor is to have the logo on the opening page of Presidential Website: "Powered by Timor Telecom."


 

Last December, TT reached 300 thousand clients and TT´s Managing Director, Manuel Joaquim Capitão Amaro strongly said "by the end of December we will reach 330,000 clients”.


At the moment 17 sites are being expanded in its capabilities and should be completed by the end of the year. Phase 6 are planned more 13 sites, in which 12 are completed, except one in Zumalai, Suai. Phase 7 will still be built 4 sites, one in Natarbora, which should be ready before Christmas. Even at this stage TT will focus their attention on the country´s South Coast, where they will be constructed 13 new sites.

"With this ambitious investment by the end of 2010 we expect to have 550,000 mobile customers," concludes Manuel Amaro.


 

From January 14 to February 14 will be held a new TT campaign, in order to increase the number of customers and also their satisfaction.

Under the slogan "Buy a Sim Card, TT offers another one," the campaign offers to new customers two new Sim Card with $ 3 and $ 1 credit respectively, plus the chance to win three trips for two people to Bali during weekend, including travel, hotel and $ 500 for pocket money.

The winners will be announced on February, the 19th.


 

Last September, the President of Portugal Telecom, Zeinal Bava, travelled to Dili to present the new strategic plan of Timor Telecom, in order to give more strength in investment in the telecommunications sector in East Timor.


Zeinal Bava said, "This plan defines a new stage and strategy of the company, with the development and implementation of new services, technology solutions, new brand, which reflects the company's commitment to East Timor.

Zeinal explains that PT is the pioneer of TT in investment infrastructure of telecommunications system.

"It is a robust and diverse structure, as an operator actives the Timorese economy, provides access to communications and expands on the basis of customers, which are still 220 thousand and by the end of the year will be 300 thousand," he continues.

To Zeinal, the infrastructure of telecommunications in this country will improve by increasing coverage of mobile and fixed network, expansion of 3G for all urban areas, construction of a submarine cable that will connect East Timor to the rest of the world, opening stores and increased the number of agents. The main goal is to reach 90% of the population will have access to the telephone network in four years.

The President of PT followed by the Managing Director of TT, Manuel Amaro, met with the PM Xanana Gusmão and Minister of Finance, Emilia Pires, to submit the policy of TT in increasing network coverage, network coverage in 13 districts that will reach 90% of the population.

According to the PM and Minister Emilia Pires, the policy of creating a law to liberalize the entry of new telecommunications companies aimed not only direct competition with TT, but to answer to customer concerns and requirements for the government to bring new operators.

Zeinal Bava hopes that "after six or nine months, when I return to East Timor, there are already changes and improvements " and "the most important thing is the team is working and PT gives its full support, so in the future TT can improve its image, "he concludes.
